Nomadic Furniture. D-I-Y Projects that are Lightweight and Light on the Environment.
HENNESSEY, James & PAPANEK, Victor
Schiffer, 2008.
The Problem: Basically we can buy furniture, build it or inherit it. All of it is bulky, heaby, often fragile and always a bitch to move. There are hundreds of books to tell us "how-to" design and "build-it-yourself". Also even more books to tell us what to buy. Often there may be one or two knock-down or folding or inflatable pieces included, but just accidentally.
The solution: We have put together a catalog of furniture you can build yourself easily, or buy or adapt. We are giving you instructions on what to buy or make, and where. All of it can be folded or knocked down, stacked, inflated or (ecologically responsibly) recycled or thrown away.
